Hello

Originally from Cornwall, and with over 15 years of experience in casting and production, Matilda works across a diverse range of projects spanning theatre, film, audio and games.​

She is Associate Casting Director for Chichester Festival Theatres, where projects include A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, 45 YEARS, ECLIPSE, HAMLET, THE HOUSE PARTY and THE CAT AND THE CANARY.

Other recent projects include WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT in the West End, KING LEAR and TWELFTH NIGHT for Sheffield Theatres, MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL, UNCLE VANYA, CHURCHILL IN MOSCOW, JMK winner GUARDS AT THE TAJ, TWELFTH NIGHT and RED SPEEDO all for the Orange Tree, THE HISTORY BOYS for Bath Theatre Royal, REVERBERATION and A CHILD OF SCIENCE both for Bristol Old Vic, as well as Danny Robins' smash-hit 2.22: A GHOST STORY including 3 West End runs and a sell-out UK and Ireland tour, with stars including Cheryl, Jake Wood, Stacey Dooley, James Buckley, Frankie Bridge, Sophia Bush and Jay McGuiness among others.

 

As Casting and Creative Producer for Open Palm Films, Matilda cast Simon Amstell's debut feature film BENJAMIN and the critically acclaimed POND LIFE starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esme Creed-Miles.

As Casting Director for Shakespeare's Globe from 2012 to 2017, she cast more than 50 productions for the Globe and Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as well as new plays by acclaimed writers such as David Eldridge, Samuel Adamson, Howard Brenton, Che Walker and Jessica Swale. ​

Highlights from this period include THE DUCHESS OF MALFI starring Gemma Arterton, David Dawson and Denise Gough; A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM starring Ncuti Gatwa, Meow Meow, and Anjana Vasan; FARINELLI AND THE KING starring Mark Rylance (also West End and Broadway); NELL GWYNN starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw (also West End); THE MERCHANT OF VENICE starring Jonathan Pryce and THE TEMPEST, starring Roger Allam, Jessie Buckley and Colin Morgan.​

​Matilda has also worked on installation art projects such as Netia Jones' ANATOMY OF MELANCHOLY for the Barbican and THE COMPLETE WALK, 37 short films by 15 directors starring 72 different actors, created for the Shakespeare 400 celebrations.​

Matilda is a member of the Casting Directors' Guild of Great Britain and BAFTA Connect. She graduated from Cambridge in 2006.
